I worked out quite a nice workflow for animated gifs:

1.
 - Assemble the pictures that you want to use.  (Some phones have a mode where they take a bunch of pictures one after the other and this can work pretty well).

2.
- For this part I use The GIMP.

a.  Open the first image.

b.  Open the layers dialogue

c.  Drag the rest of the images onto the layer dialogue to add them as individual layers.

d. Change the image to indexed mode (you can play with the settings to get the best results).

e. Save the image as a gif.   (Use the setting to save each layer as a frame).

f. If you need to change the frame timing, load the image again and change it in the layer dialogue (it&#039;ll make sense when you see it).</description>
