Blue proximity

This is very cool - lock and unlock your computer depending on your phone being in bluetooth range.

Next time I’m in linux I’ll definately have to play with it. Something I’ve been wanting to do is automatically rotate the songs on the memory card of the phone when in bluetooth range, so I’ll have to see if it’s possible to hook up the connection event to a script.

    Hi.

Thanks for taking note of my program. Yust for your information: it is perfectly possible to hook a script to the events as you can edit the commands by yourself. People tend to make a much more creative use than just locking the screen and I like that :-)
Please note two things: 1. You might want to try Ubuntu Hardy Heron next time you ‘re in linux as it now includes BlueProximity officially (though it only includes 1.2.4) 2. In version 1.2.5 you can connect more than one device and set them up differently. Future versions will include a ruleset editor so you could even setup events for ‘one of these devices is near, at least two of this group are near, all are near’ and of course the negative events…

    Have fun,
    Lars

For the person who asked if this is works on vista… not sure I haven’t tried.

I have tried it on ubuntu. It detects that the phone is out of and within range and everything but it doesn’t execute the gnome-screensaver-command
